MITTIMAGLEHEM - a place for art, encounters and reflection

In the very heart of Maglehem, nestled in the landscape of Hanö Bay - a place that has drawn artists for generations, you will find MITTIMAGLEHEM. Here, nature, history and the present moment meet in a space created to bring people together through art, entertainment and meaningful conversations.

MITTIMAGLEHEM is a foundation with a clear intention: to raise awareness through shared experiences. Through artistic expression, storytelling and dialogue, space is created for reflection, new perspectives and a deeper engagement with life and the world around us.

Tudarebacken - a place that has always gathered people

The ArtSpace stands on historic ground. As early as the medieval ages, a small hill was located here - known as Tudarebacken, “the bugler’s hill.” At that time, Maglehem was a so-called “wheel village,” where farms were arranged in a circle around this very point.

Tudarebacken served as the village center. It was here people gathered when something important needed to be communicated warnings of danger such as fire or approaching threats, but also when decisions affecting the community had to be made. Together with the church bells, this was one of the village’s key points of connection and communication.

In the early 1960s, the hill disappeared under circumstances that are still not fully understood. Yet, the significance of the place remains.

A contemporary space rooted in history

Today, a new building stands here – a 60-square-meter ArtSpace equipped with modern sound and lighting. The house also includes accommodation for visiting artists, with bedrooms, kitchen and a terrace overlooking a Japanese-inspired garden.

MITTIMAGLEHEM is envisioned as a living meeting place where artists, musicians, thinkers and storytellers - from Sweden and across the world - can share their work and perspectives.

Grants will also be available for artists whose work aligns with the purpose of the ArtSpace.

A space for what wants to be shared

MITTIMAGLEHEM is open to all who are curious.
For those who want to listen, experience and perhaps see something from a new perspective.

Just like in the past, this is a place where people gather.
The difference is that today, the signal is carried through art, music and conversation.
